For years, Tesla has been the top EV automotive manufacturer in the world. Tesla offers a wide selection of vehicles that are unlike any other car on the market. However, Volkswagen just stepped up with its new electric vehicle and finally gave Tesla some true competition. Here is a look at how the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 compares to the 2021 Tesla Model Y.

2021 Volkswagen ID.4

The Volkswagen ID.4 is a sleek and stylish compact SUV that comes with a wide range of special features and will revolutionize the way you view electric vehicles.

Design Features

The ID.4 perfectly combines elegance with athleticism when it comes to the overall design. The exterior is outlined in sleek lines and elegant curves that help to give the body a sophisticated, sculpted appearance. This stunning car comes standard with LED headlights and a long LED light bar across the rear of the vehicle. There is also an available panoramic glass roof that stretches across both the front and backseat passengers to allow the entire cabin to fill with natural sunlight.

The interior is both spacious and inviting. The vehicle can seat up to five people and there is plenty of legroom for adults to sit comfortably in the front or back seat without feeling too cramped.

Technology

The ID.4 comes equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen display; however, a 12-inch touchscreen display is available. Both displays will come standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth capabilities, and a turn-by-turn navigation system. There is also a standard 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is conveniently located behind the steering wheel.

To ensure that everyone's smart device can stay fully charged on long trips, the ID.4 also comes standard with two USB charging ports and one wireless hone charger.

Power and Performance

The ID.4 comes standard with an 82-kilowatt battery pack that provides impressive acceleration rates and range. The ID.4 can go from 0 to 96 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. The motor comes equipped with regenerative braking technology that Can charge the battery using stored kinetic energy when the brakes are applied. On average, this impressive vehicle can travel approximately 400 km on a single charge.

2021 Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y is a fun and stylish electric vehicle that comes with several autonomous features that help to make this one of the most desirable vehicles in North America.

Interior and Exterior Design

The Model Y has a similar exterior design as the ID.4. Like its competitor, the Model Y is outlined in sleek curves and elegant lines. However, the Model Y does not have a long LED light bar in the back, nor does it have bright LED headlights up front.

The interior is spacious and comfortable. The Model Y offers an available third-row that allows up to seven passengers to fit inside. However, with the third row in place, the interior feels very cramped and offers almost no cargo room.

High-Tech Infotainment

The Model Y comes standard with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment display that also comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Navigation System. The Model Y does not provide an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Instead, drivers view their car's information on the touchscreen display that is mounted in the centre of the dashboard.

Both of these vehicles are quite impressive. However, only the Volkswagen ID.4 provides a wide range of convenient features.
