Volkswagen electric vehicles: what's new for 2021

The Volkswagen ID. Family - Your Sneak Peek

By now you are more than familiar with the concept of EV vehicles, including the ones in our Volkswagen lineup. These are the ones that plugin and can be charged either by a regular volt outlet or one that's similar to what your laundry machines run on. You already know about the advantages of switching to an electric car, heck, you may even already own one for yourself (or at least a hybrid). Now, Myers Volkswagen is here to show you something even more advanced, more jaw-dropping, more show-stopping than anything you've seen before from the non-luxury market. We are here to introduce you to the ID. Family. This is a lineup of electric vehicles that will make you feel like you're behind the wheel of a luxury vehicle but without having paid the high price tag. Volkswagen prides itself on being accessible to all and as such, the ID. Family lineup saves not only the environment but your pocketbook as well. We're anticipating this lineup to arrive sometime in February 2021, so keep an eye out for future announcements if you're interested in getting a first look at and a test drive with these incredible vehicles.

Introducing the ID. Family

First things first, what does the ID. stand for? Well, a few things, really. Volkswagen thought about what emission-free mobility should look like and came to the conclusion that the answer was ID:

  • Iconic Design
  • Inspiring Dimensions
  • Intelligent Data
  • Infinite Drive
  • Intuitive Device

These five pillars culminated into the ID. family which is a line of vehicles marking the start of a new era of mobility that is entirely electric and easily accessible for everyone.

The only way to promote emission-free mobility in order to create a more sustainable world is by making electric vehicles accessible to everyone. This means creating an approachable lineup of vehicles with iconic design and economical starting costs. That's why Volkswagen created the ID. family. We know that typically the battery is the most expensive part of any electric vehicle, which is why the ID. family is developed on a common platform that allows them to be built from the ground up, enabling a high production volume at an extra-efficient rate which helps keep the vehicle practical and affordable for as many drivers as possible.

Part of the iconic design of course includes sounds design. Electric vehicles are naturally very silent, so the ID. the family uses an artificially generated vehicle noise with a composition that emphasizes its visionary identity. You'll get a unique auditory experience thanks to the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System which can be heard when starting up, at speeds of up to 30km/h, and when in reverse.

Other models in the ID. family is sure to surprise you when it comes to their diverse nature. The ID. R is performance-oriented and looks more like something you'd see out on the race track while the ID. Buzz looks like the Volkswagen camper vans of the past.
