Volkswagen recommends changing the Volkswagen Jetta's oil once a year or every 10,000 miles. You can do it yourself, but you’ll require special tools. As well as tools, you’ll need five quarts of 5w30 oil and the correct oil filter for your model.

  • Park your car on a flat surface with your handbrake engaged.
  • Jack the vehicle up, and use jack stands as support.
  • Position your drain pan so you don't spill oil when you loosen the drain bolt.
  • Remove the drain bolt.
  • Let all the old oil drain out. 
  • Screw the drain bolt back in. It’s imperative to check that the copper washer is in place on the bolt to avoid an oil leak.
  • Loosen the old oil filter by turning it counterclockwise by hand or with an oil filter tool.
  • Secure the new oil filter by hand. Ensure the correct washer is on the screw end of the oil filter. 
  • Remove the oil cap and fill with 5 quarts of new 5w30 engine oil.
  • Screw the oil cap back on.
  • Make sure to discard the old oil properly.

All models in the Volkswagen Jetta range have 1.4L, four-cylinder engines. They all use unleaded gasoline. Regular gas is most common, but you can also use premium gas to improve performance. 

How To Change A Flat Tire On A Volkswagen Jetta?

Here's what to do when your Jetta has a flat tire:

  • Pull over to the side of the road.
  • Look for a flat surface where you can safely park away from traffic. Engage the handbrake.
  • Loosen nuts on the wheel with the wheel spanner supplied.
